About the Temple
Located 17KM from Cuttack near Naraj barrage, this beautiful Shiva temple perched on hill top and the drive through the small hillocks makes for a pleasant early morning or evening outing with family.
Legend
The legend associated with the temple is that the Pandavas stayed at this place for a brief while during their agyatvas ( exile while in disguise).
It’s believed that Arjuna had set up the Shiv Ling and worshipped here.
The caves adjacent to the temple is said to be the place where they resided during their stay here.
Festival
Like all temples dedicated to Lord Shiva, Shivratri is the most auspicious festival at this temple.
Things to do
A little further up the paved pathway from the temple leads to the ashram of Baba Shiv Prakash Brahmachari- the site of river Mahanadi is just amazing, the panoramic view stretches from Manguli Barrage to Naraj Barrage.
The temple and the ashram have provisions to cook for a congregation of people with prior intimation.
