About Bhimakund

Located in a village Sendhagram, Sarang, 3 KM North of Talcher and 28 KM from Angul, this huge natural sand stone art of Lord Vishnu in a sleeping position is the second largest idol of Lord Vishnu in India in terms of size. Gomogteswar in Karnataka being the largest. It is believed to have been constructed around 8th -9th Century AD. and measures 51 ft in length.

This master piece by an unknown craftsman lies in open air along the banks of Brahmani river. To locate the place in the Google map ,type Sendhagram, Sarang. It is adjacent to the Aishyaneswar Shiva temple.
