About the Festival
The Laxmi Narayan Festival is observed for the last sixty four years in the region of Jajpur district at the end of the harvesting season. It is basically a thanksgiving to Lord Vishnu and his consort Goddess Laxmi for a fruitful harvest.
The festival starts on 25th December and ends on 21 January each year. The festival is marked by huge decorated tents (Pandals), in the evenings popular form of Odia theatre Jatra and Pala are staged along with devotional music which lasts well into the night.
People of the neighbouring areas fill up the seats and enjoy after a long harvesting season.
